Camano Island:

Best Local Parks for Kids

Camano Island is full of wonderful parks and trails to explore. This island has something for everyone to enjoy. My family and I love going on local adventures, whether hiking, biking, boating, having a beach day, or visiting local playgrounds. There are endless ways to make lasting memories with your kids on Camano Island! Here is a list of some of my favorite local parks that are perfect for my kids.

Freedom Park

Grab a coffee and snack at Camano Commons or a local restaurant, then stroll over to Freedom Park. Along the way, there are several unique statues and art pieces to admire. This park has a large communal covered space with plenty of picnic tables, making it a great spot to gather with friends or host a kid’s birthday party. Sit back and relax as the kids play in the fully enclosed play area. The playgrounds are divided into two sections: one side is designed for smaller children, and the other side is for older kids. This is a great park for the whole family.

Iverson Beach Hobbit Trail | Windermere Real Estate

Iverson Beach

Iverson Beach is one of my absolute favorites! One of the most unique features is the Hobbit Trail. The hiking trail is about a mile long, and this section of the trail is particularly special. The Hobbit Trail is filled with unusual and unique knickknacks, colorfully painted rocks, mini statues, and much more. Make sure to look all around because items can be found up in a tree, on the ground, in a tree nook, and more—it makes for a great I-Spy game. The beach is breathtaking, with sweeping views of Port Susan Bay and the local mountains. Enjoy endless bird and wildlife sightings!

English Boom

English Boom is one of the closest parks as you head onto Camano Island. Enjoy about 7 acres of breathtaking waterfront trails with unobstructed views of Mt. Baker and the local islands. English Boom features a large covered gazebo on the beach, making it perfect for picnics. When the tide is out, there is endless exploring of our local sea critters. You can also cool off during the summer by going for a swim!

Four Springs Preserve

Four Springs Preserve is one of the larger parks on the island. Expanding over 50 acres of natural preserve, it features multiple trails throughout this forested park. You will be engulfed in a lush forest, surrounded by old-growth trees, flowing streams, beautiful ferns, and wildlife. There are wonderful trails to explore, identify native plants, and observe wildlife. As a bonus, there is a huge open field, perfect for setting up a picnic in the grass. Sit back and unwind as your kids run around the field!
